Bringing Exercise Into Your Daily Routine

Bringing exercise into your existing schedule can be tough when you first think about it. Typically the problem isn’t actually a lack of time in the day but rather altering your habits to fit something else in. For instance I have always had the time in the day to workout but instead of getting up and getting active I would sit in front of the TV and waste time. You have to alter your schedule just a bit to include working out and push out more of the things that are a waste of your time. Don’t get me wrong, I sit down and relax for a little bit after I’m completely done with my day and watch TV but I don’t sit in front of it from the time I get home from work. I immediately get changed when I get home and head downstairs with my daughter so I can get my workout in before dinner.

Another way to fit exercise into your schedule is by waking up a little earlier. This is harder for most people to do because you like to sleep in and sleep is extremely important to both our physical and mental health. So how do you wake up earlier and get moving? Start by going to be a little bit earlier and don’t try getting up a whole hour earlier the next morning. Start smaller like simply getting up 15 minutes earlier to start and increase how early you get up every couple of days. After about a month it becomes habit and you are up early enough to get a workout in before you have to shower and get ready for work. The challenge can come in on the weekends for those of us who are off work. I like to sleep in on the weekends because I have to get up early and be at work by 7am anyways so it has been challenging for me to keep to my schedule on those days off. Personally I have just settled with the fact that I will sleep in on the weekends and get up an hour later and still get my workout in before everyone gets up.

For the most part, no matter what your schedule is there is a way to fit in some time to workout whether it’s a long or short one. With apps like the Nike Training Club app, you can do ones that range anywhere from 6-45 minutes which isn’t all that common. I have tried other apps before that I would give up after a week or so because the routines they offered were a minimum of 45 minutes which for those of us that work long hours and have a family and children, that can be hard to fit in at first. Especially when we are trying to get motivated to workout in the first place. That’s why I immediately took a liking to the NTC app because I could start easy and with shorter workouts until I created some habits and got more motivated. Check out the app when you get a chance and let me know what you think and for those of you who may not know yet how to fit exercise into your normal daily routine feel free to send me a message and I will help as much as I cam with it and let you know how I would do it given your current situation.
