Find What Motivates You!

One of the hardest things to do when you start working out is to stay motivated. Small things can get in the way and throw your schedule off or you can fall into a slump and get discouraged over feeling bloated one day due to eating something you shouldn’t have eaten. You have to find the thing that motivates you and hold on to that to continue to push forward. Statistically those than make a workout schedule keep to it far more than those who don’t so take the time to make one. On those days when you get home from work and don’t feel like working out or going for a run, go ahead and change you clothes so you can talk yourself back into doing it. Start small and at least go for a walk because when you’re out there chances are you will start running. If not then at least you walked which is better than doing nothing at all. For me, I found my problem was trying to workout after work when my energy felt used up for the day so I started doing my workout in the morning when I was rest and more energetic. For a lot of you that may not be the more logical option because most aren’t morning people. I like the feeling of getting my workout done in the morning and feeling ready for the day. It helps me stay focused and be more productive at work when I start my day with accomplishing something. If you find it hard to make a workout schedule or don’t know what workouts to do there are tons of apps or websites out there that have schedules and routines already made up to take advantage of.

I personally prefer the Nike Training Club app for workouts and the Nike Running Club app for running because they are free and let you become part of an online community to talk about your progress and stay motivated. The NTC app also has a lot of workouts that don’t require any equipment for those who don’t have any which is a huge plus for those who might not have a lot of extra cash on had to buy equipment to get started.

No matter what you you choose to use make sure it is something that works for you. Not everyone want to walk into a gym and pay for a personal trainer or commit to a gym membership when the gym isn’t located close enough to their home but don’t let that stop you. Those were two issues I faced but made the decision to not let it stop my on my journey to a fit lifestyle so don’t let it be the wall that stands in your way either!
